Cool New Product! Whole Pieces of Raw LAMB Green Tripe Now Available Through SFRAW

48da1eb1d73a428990700f80eac2f51fNEW: SFRAW LAMB TRIPE
One of the most exciting things to ever happen at SFRAW!!! We have  FINALLY (this has taken YEARS & YEARS) secured our own source of truly pastured/entirely grass-finished lamb green tripe. Whole pieces! Omg omg omg! We’re so excited!!!

This is a dream come true! We’re thrilled! We expect this to be a reliable source for us from an outstanding supplier. Hooray!! Super stinky, not ground up. Allow your dog to enjoy eating this food just as nature intended: shake/tear & actually chew this incredible healthy option. Awesome teeth cleaner — it works like dental floss!

SFRAW’S LAMB TRIPE comes from grass-fed and finished lamb from the only US ranch to pasture raise sheep year-round. The lambs graze on grasses through winter and into May. Come summer, they forage unfarmed hillside pine and fir groves.  With year-round free-range pasture, there’s never need for hay or grains, or antibiotics or growth hormones. The lambs roam free, eat when they’re hungry, breed on their own, and grow according to the rhythms of nature.  Lambs are humanely processed at the ranch’s vertically integrated Temple Grandin designed abattoir; the experience is low-stress from start to finish.

sheep-mountains-1200x1200Our green tripe is simply rinsed for foreign object removal, then bagged up, frozen and sent to us bulk, intact.  This tripe is VERY ripe and smelly; a special, highly nutritious experience for your dogs.

Green Tripe has a natural 1:1 Ca:Ph ratio; it provides enzymes and Lactobacillus Acidophilus (good for the gut). It is a great food for dogs experiencing renal or appetite issues; 15% highly digestible protein, 11-12% fat (with a balanced essential fatty acid profile – high in omega 3s). Green tripe also provides an estimated 13.21 mg/kg manganese on an ‘as fed’ basis; an important nutrient for raw feeders that eschew plant based ingredients.

e3d66784-1eaa-4c47-881f-25466ab66260Our new lamb tripe is quite incredible!  We’re thrilled to be able to offer this as a regular item. This particular tripe is a very special product of exceptional quality – I have never seen/fed green tripe this nice, fresh, truly green (yes, from foraging on 100% chlorophyll-rich fresh, living, emerald pastures – no grain/no supplemental feed!) and healthy looking. We’re so very pleased with it, as are all the dogs that have sampled it for us!

Please note: We are offering unprocessed, whole tripe pieces from lamb (and soon, beef). Our tripe is not ground nor packaged into 1-lb, 2-lb portion sized chubs/rolls in retail ready packs like GreenTripe or Hare-Today tripe containing products. We LOVE the GreenTripe and Hare-Today products; they will remain popular for many for their packaging and ease of feeding. SFRAW’s lamb tripe is an alternative for those seeking out a more primal option. Since it is 100% beef-free, it’s a great option for dogs allergic to beef, but that can eat lamb!  Enjoy!

My original/old post is below this box…

This beef green tripe was super great, but was not something we could get regularly. The new lamb tripe is readily available to us (YAY!), should always be in stock now… and we’re thrilled!

We have an exciting new product we’re thrilled to offer from our friends at Prather Ranch — unbleached/unscalded/unground raw green tripe packed into 5-7 lb bags for $3.75/lb.

We have a very limited supply available this weekend IN STOCK NOW – please come by to try it out while supplies last! If we have enough interest, we will plan to buy more and keep this product in stock ongoing.

This is USDA inspected and approved unbleached, unscaled (raw) green tripe from the first two chambers of the cattle’s stomachs (there are four chambers total and this is from the first two – rumen & reticulum). This is considered “honeycomb” tripe. The tripe we get from GreenTripe.com is USDA inspected, grass-finished whole tripe that has been ground up – they include both the upper & lower chambers (which contain the “pre-poop” smellier sections/material called omasum & abomasum). The upper sections of their stomach are mostly pink/red in color and not as scary looking as you might think  🙂 — the bags are reasonably sized and packaged nicely/clean.

This tripe product has been inspected for foreign objects (like metal or rocks, which can end up in a cow’s stomachs from their grazing activity); tested for e. coli and other harmful bacteria; and inspected by the USDA for cysts and parasites.

This is a really cool new thing you can try feeding your dog — it is in large-ish pieces and would be an excellent selection for a high value, boneless chewable meal for puppies, adults or older dogs.

Tripe is a study/tough, ribbed textured muscle meat that requires quite a bit of effort for dogs to chew through. This will provide a great workout that will adequately meet your dog’s chewing requirements safely, without the risk of breaking a tooth or any of the other risks associated with feeding raw bones, and will help promote both dental and gut health.

Tripe is a great choice for any dog needing a highly digestible, low-fat, well-tolerated, exceedingly palatable meal.

Tripe is also a good protein choice for any dog with renal issues/insufficiency. (more here)

Tripe has a naturally balanced ca:ph ratio and so it can be fed alone “as is” – you do not need to be concerned about balancing tripe meals.
